Call for Score 2019 Concept
This piece will be performed as part of a thematic concert
based on the idea of : “Stories, Legends & Fairy Tales”
As such, we would like you to base your on a traditional story or fairytale and its accompanying illustrations.
(These will be projected during the performance )
Please submit your score and program notes describing
the story you based your composition upon.
Eligibility : Applicants with any nationality, who was born in or after 1st of April 1987 are eligible to submit their works.
Instrumentation : The composition must be scored for orchestra in any format but must include woodwind, brass, percussion and string sections and must be within the following instrumentation:
Flute 2 (double Piccolo)
Oboe 2 (double English horn)
Clarinet 2 (double Bass Clarinet)
Bassoon 2 (double Contrabassoon)
F.Horn 4
Trumpet 3
Trombone 2
B.Trombone 1
Tuba 1
Timpani 1
  • Timpani 5
Percussion 3
  • Bass Drum, Glockenspiel, Xylophone,
  • Marimba, Vibraphone, Cymbal, Wind Charm, Gong,
  • Conga – Bongo, 5 Wood blocks, Triangle

Duration :
Composition must be between 8 -15 minutes in length.
Submission : The applicants must submit the score as a link to digital PDF file. Inclusion of a recording of the piece in high quality audio digital format is optional. However, MIDI file is also acceptable. All materials must be uploaded online with the application form, along with the applicant’s short biography and program note.
How to apply : Please fill out and submit the online application form.

The applicant must also include the following materials in the application form:
1. Link of original composition in PDF format (Score and Parts)
2. Link of Recording of the composition in high quality audio digital format (optional; MIDI file is also acceptable.)

3. Link of Composer’s Picture
4. Short biography (250 words)
5. Program note or description of the composition describe the story based your composition upon.

Concert : The selected composition will be performed by Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music Youth Orchestra on SAT. February 23, 2019 at Sangita Vadhana Hall, Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music, under the baton of renowned conductor, Léo Warynski.
  • The PGVIM will be able to provide  3-night accommodation and local transportation from hotel to the venue.
Jury : The jury is comprised of a number of internationally recognized composers.
Selection : The selected composition will be announced no later than February 14th, 2019 on the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music Youth Orchestra website and Facebook official page.
Award :
The selected composer will be awarded an honorarium of 1,000 US Dollars.
Other Regulations  1. The score must not have been published, awarded, or commercially recorded.
2. Only one entry per person is allowed.
3. The composer’s name should not appear on the score. It will be screened anonymously by the jury.
4. Alterations to the score are not permitted after entry, unless there is a request for a change from the conductor or jury to solve any problems in terms of practical performance.
5. Submitted score will not be returned.
